Workforce Development Services

Why choose Workforce Development?

Workforce development is at the heart of MRC Industries’ mission to empower individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential. Our skill-building programs are designed to provide comprehensive support tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals. Through personalized assessment and goal-setting, we identify areas for growth and development, whether it’s mastering vocational skills, improving communication abilities, enhancing daily living skills, or building social competencies. Our experienced team of instructors and support staff work closely with participants, utilizing evidence-based practices and innovative teaching methods to facilitate learning and foster independence. From structured workshops to hands-on training sessions, we offer a variety of opportunities for skill development in a supportive and inclusive environment. At MRC Industries, we are committed to equipping individuals with the tools and confidence they need to succeed in all aspects of life, laying the foundation for a brighter future filled with possibilities.

Community Volunteering

Community volunteering helps individuals explore interests, discover talents, expand knowledge, and develop skills so they can become integral members of their communities. Participants volunteer in various local organizations within Kalamazoo County. Workforce Development staff are committed to searching for and developing new activities that enhance participants’ lives and promote community inclusion. These services can be provided in small- or large-group settings.

Paid Work Opportunity

MRC’s Workforce Development Program offers paid work opportunities across a variety of career tracks in both facility-based and community settings. Participants gain real job experience while building social skills, strong work habits, and confidence through hands-on work and workforce development activities. The program supports individual goals and promotes income earning, independence, and community engagement in a setting that focuses on each person’s abilities.

artWorks

At MRC artWorks, you’ll have the chance to explore your creativity in a supportive and welcoming environment. Whether you’re painting, drawing, or trying something new, you’ll develop your artistic skills while building confidence and expressing yourself. Your artwork will be featured in our downtown gallery and retail space, where it can be shared with the community—and when your art sells, you’ll earn a commission. You’ll also have opportunities to participate in events like Art Hop and connect with other artists. At artWorks, we focus on your abilities and help you grow through creativity and community.
